We are always eager to welcome new volunteers to our dedicated team at Valley of the Sun Dog Rescue. Whether you’re passionate about working directly with dogs or prefer behind-the-scenes tasks, there are numerous ways you can make a meaningful impact.
Volunteer Opportunities:

Adoption Events: Help us make a difference at our weekly adoption events. Volunteers assist with setting up and taking down the event, talking with prospective adopters about our dogs, ensuring each dog has a blanket and water, managing clean-ups, and walking the dogs. Your role is crucial in creating a positive experience for both the dogs and their potential new families.

Dog Transportation: Our dogs need safe and reliable transport to and from adoption events and veterinary appointments. If you have a vehicle and a bit of time, this is a great way to contribute.

Dog Walking and Training: We’re also in need of dedicated individuals to walk dogs in East Mesa and assist with obedience training. Your efforts will help our dogs develop essential skills and stay healthy.

Become a Foster
Become a Foster Hero—Help Us Save More Lives!
At Valley of the Sun Dog Rescue, we are always in need of compassionate foster parents to provide temporary homes for the dogs we rescue. Since we do not have a facility of our own (though we're working towards that goal), our ability to save more dogs depends entirely on the kindness of our foster families.
Why Foster?
Fostering a dog offers them a crucial advantage on their journey to finding a forever home. As a foster parent, you play a vital role in helping our dogs develop the skills they need to thrive in their new homes. This includes:

House Training

Socialization
If you’re able to teach additional skills, such as basic obedience, we are especially grateful! Additionally, fostering often involves transporting your foster dog to our weekly adoption events, helping them find their new families.
Special Needs Fostering:
We also urgently need foster homes for special cases, including:

Pregnant or Nursing Mothers

Litter of Puppies Requiring Bottle Feedings

Injured Animals Needing Recovery Time
Your care helps these special dogs heal and prepare for adoption.
What We Provide:
To support you, we supply a crate, collar, and, if needed, dog food. But most importantly, we ask for your love and dedication. Your home can be a place where these dogs feel safe and loved, giving them a better chance at a happy future.
